Just another day on the set...
It's my first day back to work after about 6 days off, and I'm hearing about how my coworkers prepared the room the day before to prepare for 'them' today. It's going to be a busy day, and they have asked that one of the nurses act as a nurse expert. We talk about our excitement as we assess patients and quickly try and get our work done.
I had passed meds and was exiting a pt's room when our eyes met. I waited in the doorway for the crowd to walk by before pushing my computer back to our desk. Then realizing the person who smiled at me was wearing a hospital gown, I knew it was him. Got to play this one up. I floated across the nurses station and said "He looked at me and smiled" before collapsing in the chair!
They began to work quickly setting up cameras and letting us know where/when the scenes would be shot. During this time Mark Hapka walked out in front of our desk and stood. I looked up and quickly chirped "Hi Nathan." It seemed like it took a second for the realization, he probably doesn't answer to that much nowadays. I said, "we are really big Days fans." Then as I recall my coworker 'hijacked' my conversation. We were asked if we were interested in being extras and signed the forms. For a couple of scenes we stood in back of the nurses station and watched. Then came our big moment... we sat at our usually spots and pretended to work while they filmed. Maybe we will be seen 'working' at the desk on the movie!
We worked while they worked. We spoke to several of the ones behind the scenes and learned that they were from all over. Someone from New York, New Jersey, Ohio and of course LA. By about 3 pm we were tired of hearing "rolling" from down the hall as it sounded a whole lot like the guy with the lunch trays yelling "troley."
The day came to an end and we had still not gotten our pictures with Dylan and Mark. We gave report and gathered phones and cameras and waited outside of the film room. It was there around 8:00pm after a 12 hour shift where I nearly cried watching them film the grieving scene. Finally they were finished for the day. Everyone had been so nice and friendly all day, but I was sure it was now, when they were tired and ready to leave when we would be shunned in the very least. Much to my surprise one of the behind the scenes guys searched out Mark and Dylan and made sure we got pictures with them.
What an exciting experience!

Shortly after that they visited again. This time I spoke to Dylan Baker face to face. He was asking about IV's and how it would look if a patient ripped it out. I joked with family saying "he knows House" because I found out along with Spider Man he'd also appeared on Monk, House and other things. This visit they told us they would be filming April 5 and 6th.
Enter Google. Must find out what this '23 Blast' is about. I found their blogspot. Check out http://23blast.blogspot.com/ and like their facebook page as well. So as I begin to read their blog about the movie the first post I come upon... "We're happy to announce that playing our film's hero, Travis, will be the talented Mark Hapka." Now honestly I had never heard of Mark but reading on, "He joins 23 Blast team after a short but successful career in television most notably playing Nathan Horton on the long running Days of Our Lives." Say what!? Nathan Horton aka Mark Hapka is going to be playing a pediatric patient, in one of my patient rooms. Awesome! Check the schedule. Yes I work both days! Woo hoo!

Let's go Krogering
If you love couponing then you must love Kroger. Check with your local Kroger for coupon policy about double coupons. Ours doubles coupons up to 50 cents. Some will even round a 75 cent coupon up to $1.00. With double coupons and awesome sales Kroger is a great place to shop. Sale adds run Sunday to Saturday. Go here to view Kroger coupon policy.

My "Let's go Krogering" Tips:
Be sure to view the sale ad Kroger.com Then view coupon matchups with TheKrazyCouponLady's website. You want to use paper coupons available first because digital coupons do not double. In the past if you had already added a .50/1 ecoupon to your card and found the same .50/1 coupon in your sunday paper (that will double) you could not remove the ecoupon. Now if you find a better coupon you do have the option to remove coupon. You CANNOT use a paper coupon and digital coupon on one item.
Kroger often has popular mega events where you save $5 when you buy 10 participating items. With these sales it is vital to buy in multiples of 10 to maximize your savings. When buying 10 of each item is not suitable I have found that using reusable shopping bags can be very helpful. Just take out these bags and fill each with 10 participating items and fold them over. Then you will know what you have already in the buggy.
Check with your sale ad and online to catch specials when they offer a new deal of the day. They often have a special ecoupon you can download to your card for one day only. The coupon will then be good for a couple of weeks.
Also check for catalinas and offers at the register.
Then take your Kroger plus card with you to the pump. Shopping at kroger you can earn up to 1 point per $1 grocery purchase. Kroger and Shell stations get up to 10 cents off per gallon. See store and your receipt for more information.
